194 additional beds for IGMH and Dharumavantha Hospital in the past year and a half

The CEO of Malé Group of Hospitals, Ibrahim Abdur Razzaq Haleem, has stated that 194 beds have been added to IGMH and Dharumavantha Hospital in the past year and a half, which will facilitate the provision of services. Ibrahim Abdur Razzaq Haleem said this while speaking at the opening ceremony of the Multi-Specialty Surgical Wing established at IGMH.

The CEO of Malé Group of Hospitals, Ibrahim Abdur Razzaq Haleem, said that many achievements have been made by IGMH and Dharumavantha Hospital in the past year and a half. He said that a special ER for children has been established and a fertility center has been set up at Dharumavantha Hospital, providing IVF services. He also mentioned that an Operation Theater Complex has been introduced at IGMH and a Cath Lab has been brought into service at Dharumavantha Hospital.

Highlighting some statistics, CEO Ibrahim Abdur Razzaq Haleem said that when IGMH opened in 1995, there were 186 beds to treat 62,000 people. By 2023, the hospital was using 310 beds to treat 212,000 people, and in these 30 years, only 130 beds were added to the hospital, Abdur Razzaq Haleem said. He stated that in the past year alone, 119 beds were added to Dharumavantha Hospital and IGMH. With the 75 beds added today, the number of beds used in the hospital has increased to 510, said CEO Ibrahim Abdur Razzaq Haleem.

“When we think about giving importance to the health sector, when we think about solving the problems we face, in the past 30 years, 130 beds were added, but in the past year and a half, 194 beds have been added. This will further expand services and increase the speed at which services are provided to the public,” said Ibrahim Abdur Razzaq Haleem, CEO of Malé Group of Hospitals. Abdur Razzaq Haleem said that IGMH currently provides 32 multi-specialty services. He also said that they have decided to start bypass surgery and interventional radiology services this year.

He noted that in addition to the infrastructural development of hospitals, work is also being done to develop human resources. In this regard, he said that permission has been granted to recruit 411 employees in the past year and a half, and most of them have already been recruited, Abdur Razzaq Haleem said.
