A Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant capable of producing 1,000 tons of water per day has been installed in Male’. According to a tweet by the Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) on X, this RO plant has now been set up in Male’. The plant was installed at the company’s operation center. With this new addition, Male’ can now produce 28,000 tons of water daily.
As the population in the Male’ area continues to grow, the demand for water is also increasing. Consequently, the previously installed water production capacity in Male’ has been under strain. With this new plant, the water service provided to the public will be improved in quality and delivered more safely.
In addition to Male’, the government is working on improving water services and increasing production capacity to meet public demand in other islands of the Maldives. Furthermore, efforts are underway to resolve issues arising from the lack of maintenance of island water plants by previous administrations and to bring them back into operation. Recently, a problem with the RO plant that supplies water to the connected islands of Addu City was resolved, and the plant was brought back into operation.
